Assignment 1.2: Teachable Machine Exercise

Points 20Due Jun 24, 2026, 3:59 AMSubmit File uploadFormats docx, pdf

  Overview

We've discussed in some level of technical detail how a supervised ML algorithm works, is trained and then used. This exercise allows you to step back and appreciate the complexity of the process from a high-level perspective without getting stuck in the details.

Our next step after this exercise will be to zoom back in on the details, including feature selection, some of the math concepts underpinning the algorithms and learning more about how the frameworks simplify the process by abstracting away the really technical parts.

I hope this exercise will be fun and also help you gain more insight into the basics of machine learning--while training and using a model on your own, without coding, right in your browser.

Note that the exercise shouldn't take you more than 30 to 45 minutes--maybe more if you want to play around with it (should be fun...I know I enjoyed it).

  Exercise

You will be doing the exercise demonstrated in the following video (or another of your choice, as noted below):

You do not have to do the exact "YMCA" body pose exercise in the video, but you must do at least one exercise using the tool (Google's teachable machine).

  Submission

In a Word document, describe in a couple of sentences what you did, noting what your model does and which type of project it is.

Paste into the same Word document at least three screenshots that show your model setup, training, and working/running.

Submit the text and screenshots as:
